UFR of Latin and of Musicology and the cultural service of the University Paris - Sorbonne (Paris IV) will have the pleasure of welcoming on May 26th, 2008 Francis Biggi, professor of ancient music to the Conservatory of Geneva, and his "Compagnia dell' Orfeo" for an exceptional concert of the Orfeo d' Angelo Poliziano.

Created in 1480 in Mantoue, the leader - of work of the Florentine humanist poet, protected from Laurent de M dicis and old boy of Marsile Ficin, had a huge success in Renaissance and was at the origin of the booklet of the Orfeo de Monteverdi. After long researches in philology and in musical history led under the auspices of the Abbey of Royaumont, Francis Biggi recreated a music and a stage design for the Fable of Orpheus d' angel Politien. Introduced and recorded in the festival of Sarrebourg in July, 2007, this show will be given for the first time in Paris, in its version concert, to the amphitheatre Richelieu in Sorbonne.

The concert will be preceded of a round table uniting literary and musicologists specialists of Quattrocento who will discuss this reconstitution. He round table will be held in the conference room of the Home of Research in May 26th from 2 pm till 4 pm Meanders. All persons having worked on the work of Polyyours Angel, his context or his posterity are invited warmly to participate in it. They are asked to distinguish themselves to Frederick Billiet (UFR of Musicology) or of Emilie S ris (UFR of Latin).
